• Are you a consignment shop?

No, the items in our shop are purchased and curated by our individual dealers. Mike McKenna launched ReFound in 2014. In 2018, ReFound became a group shop. Depending on which day you visit, you will meet a different dealer. Objex Antiques, Thinking Outside the Box, and Garth Goldsmith are an eclectic group of antique enthusiasts who bring a wealth of knowledge to the shop.

  • Where do you find your stuff?

In short...everywhere! Since we’ve been in this business for a while now, it’s common for people to contact us when they are ready to sell their collections. We often come across special items at estate sales that we organize. We’re also always on the hunt - while we’re travelling locally or abroad.

  • What sort of items do you buy?

The shop is stocked primarily with vintage and antique items. Artwork, home decor, tools, kitchenware, instruments, stereo equipment, small furniture pieces, textiles...our stock is varied and often turns over quickly. We also look for and create repurposed/upcycled objects. We don’t limit ourself to trends because nostalgia isn’t constrained by a certain time period!

  • What’s the difference between “antique” and “vintage”.

There is no hard-fast rule for these terms. That said, there is a general acceptance that antiques are over 100 years old, while vintage items are those made prior to 1999.

  • Should I use online marketplace websites to value my items?

You could, but it’s important to keep in mind that websites like Etsy and Ebay are massive sites that draw buyers from all over the world. Also, the list price will not always jive with the sold price. When we purchase items for our shop, we draw on our collective experience in buying and selling antiques locally (for many, many years)! We know that some items that used to sell for $200 ten years ago, now may only sell for $40 - and vice versa. We pay fairly for items and appreciate that you trust us to find a new home for your special items.

  • Where are you located?

You can find the shop at 5 Thistle Street in Dartmouth near the intersection of Victoria Rd and Thistle Street. Many of our customers recall walking through the door as a youth when the McCormick’s operated a corner store in this space. Nostalgia abounds!

  • What prep work should I do before having you organize an estate sale and list my house?

It can feel really overwhelming to look around your home and imagine getting it ready to sell. That’s where we come in! Once you have decided what items you’d like to keep, we sort through the remaining items (pulling items from drawers, cupboards, shelves, closets, etc). We can organize an estate sale, items for donation, auction, etc. We offer a full clear out, including donation and trash removal. We work efficiently to make the process as quick as possible.

  • What payment methods do you accept?

Cash, Visa, Master Card and e-transfer

  • Can I buy items online?

While we don’t list items for sale on the website, we do post regularly to Facebook and Instagram. If something catches your eye, you can message us through the social media apps or call the shop. We can accept remote payments (credit card by phone or etransfer). We do ask that you collect your purchase within a week.
